Ford is talking a bit about 2013 Focus ST with a twin turbocharged two-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. The car will be the first EcoBoost vehicle sold in the United States to feature Overboost. Overboost is activated on the car by pressing a button to give the driver something akin to a turbo boost.
Overboost doesn't increase horsepower, but broadens the torque curve of the engine to give drivers a boost when passing. Peak torque output doesn't change from the factory rated 270 pound-foot number, but drivers get more torque over an RPM band from 3000 to 4500 RPMs for up to 15 seconds. The Focus ST is rated for 252 hp and 270 pound-foot of torque.
