The M3 may be the only BMW left with a manual transmission

If you're sports car fan who has been leaning towards purchasing a BMW M5 rather than the smaller M3 to get additional space, you might want make that purchase soon. BMW has officially announced that it will no longer offer a six-speed manual transmission on the M5 after the current version goes way. BMW says the reason for removing the US only optional six-speed manual is one of money.

According to BMW, last year only 15 to 20% of M5s sold in the US had a manual transmission. This year the company expects 15% to be manual cars. The company says even though the manual is no cost option compared to the seven-speed paddle shift transmission, fewer and fewer people want the manual. The good news is BMW says the M3 will continue with the manual transmission option.
