Orbitz Shows Mac Users More Expensive Hotels According to Reports

You might be familiar with the website Orbitz that sells discount price hotel rooms for travelers. You might expect both Windows and Mac users to see the same hotels when they run a search that isn't the case. Mac users apparently spend as much as 30% more per night on hotels than Windows counterparts.

That has led to Mac users sometimes seeing more expensive hotel options than Windows user see. The company does point out that Mac users are being given more expensive rates on the same hotel rooms, they are simply being shown more expensive options by default. That's geek profiling, and I'm not sure if it's wrong.

Industry voice: Why is Java still the hacker's favourite?

Java was originally released with the slogan "write once, run anywhere," which was intended to underscore its cross-platform capabilities. Over time, Java has become ubiquitous on endpoints, so "run anywhere" can be interpreted as referring to its ubiquity. Even as fewer websites and web applications require Java in order to operate properly, the technology is pervasive on virtually every end-user system ...

Apple's Enormous Year Finally Starts On Monday (AAPL)

Source: The Business Insider

Apple is typically a pretty tight-lipped company when it comes to future products.  But, with people getting antsy for the next big thing, its executives have become uncharacteristically talkative about what it's planning.  Naturally, they're not explicitly saying what they've got coming, but they're hyping what's in development.  "Later this year, we've got the best product pipeline that I ...
