Microsoft ignited a big bomb today. Upgrading to Windows 8 Pro will only cost you $39.99 if you have at least Windows XP running. This should enable Microsoft to reach a massive Windows 8 install base in no time. Microsoft really needs this. Having millions of people still using Windows XP and Vista (yuck!) is not only a burden, but also holds Microsoft back. If every Windows user would upgrade to Windows 8 in 2012, Microsoft would have the world's largest consumer base for apps and media sales.
Microsoft needs to move everyone to Windows 8 as fast as possible to make the eco system work.
