Apple TV is a Trojan Horse that brings U.S. Video Streaming to the Rest of the World

I love Apple TV and iTunes. Why? Because I can watch current original language U.S. TV Shows here in Germany.

Apple TV is a Trojan Horse that brings U.S. Video Streaming to the Rest of the World

I was living in California when Netflix started. It was awesome. When I moved back to Germany there was nothing comparable. After Germany caught up with DVD rental services, digital movie and TV Show delivery started to go mainstream. And the fun was back.

As a fan of original language movies and TV shows you either go do some illegal copying (It is wrong, do not do this.) or use iTunes with an U.S. billing account. I do the latter and it works great. Apple's iTunes got now even better for users outside of the United States. Hulu Plus and Netfllx are available on the Apple TV box. TNW reports that Hulu Plus is working from outside the US and is not region blocked. Netflix should work too.

The secret is that the billing is done through iTunes and Hulu Plus does not know you. They just get your cash.

I was considering not to post about this. I do not want it to go away. I really have no idea how Apple gets away with it and gets around the whole world-wide licensing mess of digital media.
