This is a historic moment for Lenovo. For the first time Lenovo is the global PC market leader according to the latest Gartner report for Q3. IDC has though still HP ranking on first place. This discrepancy once again shows how flawed these market share reports are.
In general the PC market is in decline. It fell 8% last quarter compared to the previous quarter. You can blame tablets for the decline in PC market share. I for instance have stopped using a laptop. I use an iPad and a Bluetooth Logitech keyboard cover in case I need to blog on the road.
You can also blame Windows 8 for the decline, because many consumers and companies are waiting for the new hardware generation to be released end of October.
