The Apple October 23 media event starts at 10am PDT / 1pm EDT in San Francisco in the California Theatre. Based on the Apple rumor mill the company will unveil several new products. The list of new Apple releases includes iPad mini, iPad 3 with Lightning, 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, updated iMacs and updated Mac minis. Apple is expected to make a play for the iPad mini in the educational market.

9to5Mac is on a roll, hours before the Apple event. Besides leaking the specifications of the new 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina and the new Mac mini the Apple news site now reports that Apple will sell iPad Mini Smart Covers in various colors.
