New York and other parts of the east coast brace for Hurricane Sandy. The winds in the hurricane are now at 90mph according to the latest reports. Sandy could impact about 50 million people. Tons of snow and rain are to follow the hurricane. The water is already rising and parts of New York are already flooded.
New York is already in lock down. Most regular operations and events have been cancelled. Public transport and also the stock markets are closed. The latest damage reports from Hurricane Sandy count now 43 dead. 8 million people still did not have power by late Tuesday. Via the Wall Street Journal.
Major Bloomberg published a video of him touring the devasting scene of Breezy Point. A huge fire caused by Hurricane Sandy destroyed dozens of homes.
The full extend of the Hurricane Sandy damage is still not known. The death count is now already at 39. Officials say that the damage of Sandy is impossible to measure.
