Samsung Electronics Co, Ltd announces (korean press-release) the world's first 46-inch LCD TV.
The company said it plans to release the product within the Korean market and ship the product to overseas markets during the first half of 2004.
The initial price is reported to be around $13,500.
The Samsung LT46G1 will support 1080i resolution mode and SRS TruSurround XT sound.
Samsung was showing prototypes of a 46" LCD TV and also of a 54" LCD TV already at the CES in 2002, see PCWorld Article. I guess it took Samsung a while to really productize those large scale LCD Panels.
LCD Panels compete with the Plamsa Technology for large-scale Flat panel TVs. The current world's largest Plasma TV is 80-inch and is also from Samsung (see story on Gizmodo).
