Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is rumored to join Steve Jobs in the WWDC 2010 keynote on June 7th. Barron's reports that analyst Trip Chowdry from Global Equities Research shared that 7 minutes of the Apple keynote are reserved for Microsoft to unveil Visual Studio 2010 for Apple developers.
Visual Studio 2010 for Apple developers would allow to code native apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac OS.
There is no proof that Microsoft would release a version of the currently available VS 2010 for Apple developers. Microsoft has many business segments. Looking at developer tools alone it would make sense to cater to growing market of Apple developers. Looking at the whole picture it raises many questions as Microsoft competes with Apple.
If Steve Ballmer would need another guy to actually demonstrate VS, but his presence would be a huge kicker. He could congratulate Jobs on overtaking Microsoft in terms of Market Cap.
Update:
The rumor was annoying enough that Microsoft has twittered a response to it: "Steve Ballmer not speaking at Apple Dev Conf. Nor appearing on Dancing with the Stars. Nor riding in the Belmont. Just FYI." Via Engadget.
Since we know almost everything about the new iPhone 4G, an appearance of Ballmer at the WWDC 2010 would have been a surprise.
