TiVo will cut the prices for its digital video recorders to as low as $100 on Monday in the USA.
TiVo's stock fell to a 16-month low on Friday because of DirecTV dropping TiVo from their receivers and replacing it with i guess with a cheaper PVR solution.
The lower TiVo box prices, effective Aug. 11, also apply to other TiVo models, including the boxes sold by Toshiba and Humax. I guess the TiVo Series2 40Hour box that currently sells for $149.99 will be reduced to $100.
Last week TiVo also received approval from the FCC for technology that would permit users to send copies of recorded shows over the Internet to a limited number of friends.

I for my part used a ReplayTV 5040 for the longest time. Those PVRs still jump over commercials automatically. In general a PVR is a must have to watch TV these days.
