Bandai started its launch of the new Tamagotchi Connection in the United States. We reported about the new Tamagotchis in February, now they are here.
Special launch events where held in NY and San Francisco August 10th five days before nation-wide availability of the new Tamagotchis. (Pre-Order at Amazon.com for $14.99)
The new advanced Tamagotchi Connection features infrared communication functions.
The Infrared technology allows Tamagotchi Connection owners to connect with others and play games, give gifts and become friends with other Tamagotchi owners and store a "friend list" of up to 50 friends.
Once an adult, the Tamagotchi can connect with a compatible Tamagotchi friend and have a second-generation Tamagotchi that the owner can care for and nurture into an adult to create more generations to come.
And all that fun for just $14.99.
Bandai already sold 1 million Tamagotchis in Japan within 5 month. I am not sure if it is going to be as big as with the first generation of Tamagotchis.
If you already have one of those new Tamagotchis, please email us your first impression of it.
Bandai has setup a site for the Tamagotchi Connection.
