Tivo and Netflix, the two companies that make a TV actually still fun, plan to bring Movies On Demand - at least that is What the New Newsweek magazine is reporting.
Apperently Tivo users with an Netflix account will be able to download their Netflix DVDs over the Internet directly onto their TiVo boxes. It takes a couple hours to download a high quality DVD.
Well I am not so sure this will happen anytime soon. Tivo boxes can already share over the internet recorded TV shows. Tivo would need to provide a bullet proof protection, else anybody with a Tivo can feed the latest DVDs into P2P networks. Hollywood sure does not like it.
It is also interesting to see that Netflix and not Blockbuster is the partner of Tivo in this. Blockbuster just figured out how to deliver DVDs per mail. On the other hand Blockbuster sure has better handle on Hollywood than Netflix.
