Benchmarks

Axion might not be a household name, but they make some cool products and today we are having a look at their 10.4” AXN-9105M Digital Multimedia Player. Not only can this frame display pictures but it can play back music along with them as well on the built-in speakers.

Axion added internal memory that can hold up to 20 images; at the default settings on my Canon 5.0MP S2 IS I could get 10 images on the internal memory. If that doesn’t seem like enough images for your tastes there is also a built-in card reader that can handle SD, MC and Memory Stick flash cards. A USB port is also included for direct connections with your camera.

A/V inputs and outputs allow you to get pics directly from your camera and file compatibility is with JPEG, MP3 and MPEG4. If you like to shoot pictures in both portrait and landscape orientations you can flip images on the fly to suit the orientation of your frame via the included remote. The 10.4” AXN-9105M Digital Multimedia Player has adjustable brightness so you can adjust to your preferences and the screen resolution is 640 x 480. The frame runs off of 9V 12W DC power source that is included.

In my testing I inserted a 1GB SD card into the onboard card reader and the frame creates a slide show of all images on the disk for you to view. Each image stays on screen for about 5 seconds, though that time is adjustable up to 10 seconds and you can pause the image on screen via the remote control or the controls on the rear of the frame. As the images scroll by you can delete ones you don’t want from the frames memory via the remote or onboard controls. The image quality on the frame is excellent. Colors are bright, vivid and lifelike as are skin tones. The frame also does a great job displaying photos in black & white and sepia.

You can wall mount the frame or use the built in frame stand allowing it to be free standing on a table. The 10.4” AXN-9105M Digital Multimedia Player’s picture frame is made form plastic and colored with a faux cherry wood design that looks very nice. You can’t change the frame on this particular device. You can buy the 10.4” AXN-9105M Digital Multimedia Player frame online from right at $190 making it a good buy.
