Now that a ringtone is the actual leader of the prestigious UK singles chart, maybe the music industry realizes that single sales are not valid anymore.
Who is buying singles these days? If it all kids buy them, this also explains the success of the Crazy Frog. In Europe you cannot watch MTV or VIVA without getting hammered with ringtone ads. The Crazy Frog is of course one of the heavy hitters.
I think the music industry has to switch to download charts. BBC hosts the
official UK Download Charts. No Crazy Frog there.
