Hitachi announces a new digital video recorder with 1TB Hard-drive storage.
The Hitachi DV-DH1000W features high vision digital tuner (Japanese HDTV) to receive and record HD TV programming. 1TB is for HDTV not that much. The Hitachi DV-DH1000W can store up to 128hours of recording on 1TB.
Two recordings can take place at the same time on the new Hitachi DVRs.
Hitachi releases the new DVR in September, for about $2,000 in Japan. More details in this Hitachi press-release (Japanese).Sony announced already in 2004 the Sony Type X DVR with 7 tuners and also 1TB storage.
