We already reported about Sony getting into the Hard-drive based camcorder market with the DCR-SR100.

Sony's first HDD camcorder comes with a 30GB hard-drive and a 2.7 inch screen. The DCR-SR100 supports Sony's new optional center-channel Bluetooth microphone for a cinematic sound experience.
The Sony DCR-SR100 will be available in May for about $1,100.
