BenQ-Siemens announces the EF91 HSDPA (High Speed Download Packet Access) 3G phone and plans to be the first to market with it.
As reported DoCoMo will also show HSDPA phones from Motorola, NEC and Fujitsu at the 3GSM show. BenQ will have the EF91 on the market by June in time for the Soccer World Cup in Germany. DoCoMo will launch its HSDPA phones in July in Japan. T-Mobile und Vodafone will sell the BenQ-Siemens HSDPA phone.
The BenQ-Siemens EF91 folding design phone features a 2 inch screen with QVGA resolution, a 3.2MP digital camera, 3D surround sound and microSD slot.
HSDPA allows even faster download speeds than standard UMTS. 1.8Mbit/s downstream and 384kbit/s upstream should be possible with HSDPA.
