Panasonic DMP-B15 Portable Blu-Ray Wins CES 2010 Award
Topic: CES 2010 News
Today Panasonic won a CES 2010 Innovations award for their DMP-B15, the world's first portable Blu-ray player. The B15 will be shown off at CES 2010 along with all of the other award honorees. It's not hard to see why the B15 won this year. There are no other portable Blu-ray players on the market. If you want to watch your Blu-ray disks while on the go, your options are either the B15, or a really expensive laptop.
The B15 displays its videos on an 8.9" WSVGA LCD screen. It has an Ethernet connection which gives it access to Viera Cast, a Panasonic service through which users can access Amazon Video-on-Demand and YouTube. There's also an SD reader, for the folks who want to transfer their Blu-ray collection to a more portable form. In addition, the B15 has an HDMI input, which allows it to also serve as a standalone Blu-ray player.

ICD To Unveil Android Tablet At CES 2010
Topic: CES 2010 News
While all the analysts and bloggers speculate over the iTablet and the Courier, ICD has a tablet PC heading for CES 2010 that actually exists. And it runs Android 2.0, which adds about 15 extra points to its Geek Cred. While CNet says that full details won't emerge until CES 2010, the company has already put out a thorough PDF about the product.
The tablet, named Vega, will come in 7", 11", and 15.6" versions. The resistive touchscreen will be capable of displaying 262,000 colors, and the whole tablet will be powered by an Nvidia Tegra processor. It'll have 512 MB of RAM and 512 MB of NAND Flash memory. Video conferencing will be possible with this tablet, thanks to its front-facing 1.3 MP camera. While the internal memory on this thing is going to suck, you will be able to use a 32 GB micro SD card to store your media.

JVC Wins CES 2010 Innovations Award
Topic: CES 2010 News
Alright, so this announcement sounds a little lame compared to LG's seventeen freaking awards. JVC just gets one award this year, but it's for something cool; the DLA-HD990 home theater projector. If you have a giant chunk of disposable income and a big living room, you too might be a good candidate for the joys of projector ownership.

LG Electronics Wins 17 Awards, CES 2010
Topic: CES 2010 News
Today at the 2010 CES Innovations Awards LG Electronics swept 17 different honors. They received "Best of" recognition in Video Display, and also won awards in Eco-Design, Sustainable Technology, Online Audio/Video Content, High Performance Audio, and Wireless Handsets. The 2010 CES Awards mark LGs 100th award (and then some) in the last 7 years. I'd imagine some engineers are about to get hefty bonuses.

Technocel PowerPak Wins CES 2010 Award
Topic: CES 2010 News
Speaking as an annoyingly-frequent traveler, rechargeable battery packs are one of the single most useful products in the world. There are some times when your cell phone or GPS just can not run out of battery. Any company that can put out a truly solid advance to that line of technology wins so very many kudos from me. This year, one of the top rechargeable battery products was the Technocel PowerPak, which won a Best of Design award at the CES 2010 Engineering Awards.
CES 2010 showcases some of the most unique and well designed products made in the last year, and also features tons of demonstrations for new products coming up in the near future. The PowerPak is basically a portable battery-and-charger all in one. It works on all USB devices, and has an MSRP set at $49.99.

Hillcrest Labs Loop Pointer Made CES 2010 Innovations Honoree
Topic: CES 2010 News
We covered the Loop Pointer back when it first launched. Basically, this device from Hillcrest labs is a mouse that's designed to be held in the air and used to control a media box set-up from the comfort of your couch or lounge chair. It's a marriage between remote control and wireless mouse that, quite frankly, is one of the better product ideas I've heard of in months.
Tons of people these days have media boxes set up with their televisions. If you're going to spend thousands of dollars on a nice, giant LCD TV, you want it to have the optimum functionality it can have. By hooking it up to a computer you gain access to all of your movies, TV shows, and games without needing to switch out DVDs or plug in a console. The only bother with a media box is that the mouse and keyboard usually end up getting stuck somewhere to the side, forcing you to actually get up and move to use them.

Scosche Wins CES 2010 Award For tapSTICK iPod Shuffle Case
Topic: CES 2010 News
The wild popularity of iPods has given birth to an entire industry of specialized carrying cases built around the trendy media players. Today Scosche Industries, makers of the tapSTICK iPod shuffle protective case, announced that they've been designated an honoree for the 2010 CES Innovations Design and Engineering Award. I'm pretty sure this means they make one hell of an iPod shuffle case. Scotsche will be showing their new product off at next years CES show.
They'll be set up in the iLounge Pavilion, which is where all manner of 3rd party Apple peripheral manufacturers will be setting up their wears. The tapSTICK itself is a polycarbonate case which allows users to play, pause, adjust volume, skip tracks, and navigate using the VoiceOver feature. Both this product, and a bevy of other Scosche "made for iPod" and iPhone products will be on display this year.
