CES 2010 to be Stage for Windows 7 and OS X Snow Leopard Showdown? Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Apple related products will have their own hall at the CES 2010 for the first time. Apple itself did not say yet if they are going to exhibit at the CES - most likely not. Still the iLounge Pavilion is featuring leading Mac developers and retailers. Apple stuff has been missing from CES completely because of MacWorld. Now things have changed since Apple decided to leave MacWorld.
CES 2010 could become the battle ground for the new operating systems from Microsoft and Apple. Both are expected to still launch in 2009, but when exactly is still up in the air. Of course it would be smart to have releases way before the holiday shopping season to drive sales in these hard economic times. Read more

CES 2010 Apple iLounge Pavilion already a Success

Topic: CES 2010 News

CES 2010 Apple iLounge Pavilion already a Success Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) today announced that the new Apple specific iLounge Pavilion has already sold out and got extended in size four-fold.
As reported after Apple pulled out of MacWorld, the makers of the CES immediately approached exhibitors at MacWorld to jump ship in 2010 and join CES 2010 in Vegas instead. This is really bad for MacWorld 2010 and the makers have to come up with a new concept that possibly focuses entirely on the Apple community and scrap the exhibition.

The iLounge Pavilion, co-sponsored by CEA and surprise iLounge.com, will feature manufacturers and retailers of iPod and iPhone accessories, related products and services, and based on requests from vendors, will now grow to include leading Mac developers and retailers as well. Read more

Things I Hoped to See at CES and Didn't: NVIDIA Ion Netbooks

Topic: CES 2010 News

Things I Hoped to See at CES and Didn't: NVIDIA Ion Netbooks Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review When I jumped on the plane to Las Vegas for CES last week I had hoped to see some devices and for many of them that hope was dashed once I hit the show floor. One of the things that I hoped to see most were netbooks and nettops that were running the NVIDIA Ion platform.

The Ion platform holds some serious promise with the Atom CPU bundled with an NVIDIA GPU. I was able to see the Ion platform demo system running at the NVIDIA booth and the difference between Ion and the Acer Aspire One NVIDIA was showing HD video on was significant. Ion was smooth and fluid, the video looked fantastic. On the One, the video was choppy and jerky, not something you could watch. Read more

CES 2009 Was a Bust

Topic: CES 2010 News

CES 2009 Was a Bust Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review CES 2009 is only days behind us and after spending the week at CES and going to several of the pre-show events, I can say that I found CES 2009 to be one of the worst shows in recent years. We already know that attendance at the show was down compared to other years.

It didn’t take long walking around the show floor to notice that many of the booths were vacant; there was more space around than in previous years. As I walked around the show floor, I found myself thinking that there were very few new and interesting products being shown.

In previous years, hopping into the booth of a large electronics maker like Samsung or LG meant that you would see hoards of new TVs and other items that were coming to market very soon. These products were the focus of the booths and something you could expect consumers to be able to get their hands on. Read more

AVN 2009 Booth Babes Photos remind at the glory Days of CES 2007

Topic: CES 2010 News

AVN 2009 Booth Babes Photos remind at the glory Days of CES 2007 Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review When I saw that hardware review site Tweaktown had a gallery of AVN 2009 Booth Babes I thought before my finger even clicked that these photos are going to be too naked. Instead my eyes looked at Booth Babes and adult film stars that I have actually seen before at the CES.
You just have to go back 2 years, when everything was still great. CES 2007 had for instance the Girls Gone Wild girls as AVN 2009 has now. Read more

Samsung Luxia 8000, 7000 and 6000 LED HDTVs to lead in 2009

Topic: CES 2010 News

Samsung Luxia 8000, 7000 and 6000 LED HDTVs to lead in 2009 Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review Samsung generated great buzz for their new ultra-thin LED HDTVs at the CES 2009. Even before the show the anticipation in December for the new Samsung LED TVs with Internet services, LED backlight and 240Hz technology was high. Then Samsung unveiled their ultra-thin 6.5mm LCD panel and stole the show in terms of thinness, except to OLED TV concepts.
Now that the dust has settled, how thin and how great are the new Samsung HDTVs that you can by in 2009?
The new top of the line Samsung HDTV line-up consists of the Samsung Luxia 8000, 7000, and 6000 HDTVs.
The new Samsung 3rd generation LED HDTVs use LEDS as their primary light source, rather than traditional Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps (CCFL). Benefits of using LEDs include ultra-high contrast ratios, slim depths that allowance for more artful designs, plus increased energy savings.
The Samsung Ultra Clear Panel further allows the preservation of every detail even in brightly-lit, imperfect viewing conditions. Read more

The iCEphone outdoes the iPhone and the Palm Pre Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review ..., but nobody cared at the CES 2009. The iCEphone features a unique design I have not seen on any smartphone. It folds out in three panels: touchscreen, QWERTY keyboard and function key pad.
Originally designed to meet the exacting requirements of the British military the iCEphone runs Windows Mobile and has a ruggedized design. The 3G smartphone has yet another unique function. iCE Aid is designed to assist anyone, anywhere in the world affected by a medical emergency. A phone that can save lives, how can the Apple iPhone or the Palm Pre beat that? Read more

The perfect CES would look like this

Topic: CES 2010 News

The perfect CES would look like this Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review The CES 2009 closed its doors and it was not as exciting as I'd hoped it would be. Yes, sure there is this economy crisis, but still the CES is just once a year and it should be a celebration of technology with all the bells and whistles.
I stumbled today over the Japanese Panasonic VIERA homepage and there it was, an image depicting the perfect CES. Just imagine a show floor full of big screen TVs where Booth Babes dressed like they are in Virtua Fighter stand next to them. Read more
