Toshiba informed attendees of the Home Media Expo (site) taking place in Las Vegas next week that they will be selling the HD-A2 HD-DVD Player with 3 HD DVD movies for $99.

The bargain HD-DVD player will on be available for one week starting July 22nd.
Currently the HD-A2 HD DVD player sells for $248.88 and you get 5 free HD-DVD movies with the purchase. It looks like this deal is just for Home Media Expo attendees.
It would be a cool promotion if this deal would be available nation-wide to everyone. Toshiba would be able to clear their stock of A2s in a very short time. Toshiba most likely will introduce a new line of HD-DVD player for the coming holiday season.
