UK's MCV reports that Sony is going to release a redesigned Sony PS2 with integrated power supply for under $100.

New Sony PS2 console official

Currently the Sony PS2 sells for $129.99 and the new white SingStar PS2 bundle sells for $149.99.
Sony already cut the cost when they went to the slim PS2 a couple of years ago. If the story is true Sony is again cutting cost with an even more integrated design.

A $99 PS2 could grab some market share from the Wii. The newest PS3 does not support the PS2 games. I do not think that people who have a PS3 will buy a new PS2. The PS3 users who have a PS2 game library anyway still have a PS2 standing around.
