Microvision announced that they would show a pocket sized Plug-and-Play Pico projector at the CES 2008 a week ago.

Gizmodo has a video showing the Pico projector in action. The quality is quite alright and considering the projection comes out of a small device like that, it is actually amazing.

The idea behind the Pico projector is to integrate it into mobile phones. Microvision is not alone at the CES 2008 with a tiny projector for mobile phones.

Displaytech and Light Blue Optics are also showing a range of miniature projection systems to be embedded into mobile phones.
LBO’s miniature projection systems use laser light sources to create bright, full color, high-quality video images with the widest possible color gamut.
The systems incorporate a fast-switching phase modulating FLCOS microdisplay with a 7x7mm active area, custom designed for LBO by development partners Displaytech Inc. In addition, LBO’s miniature projection systems deliver an ultra-wide throw angle greater than 90º, creating large images at very close proximity to the projector aperture. Via the LBO site.
