Amazon announces their Q4 earnings and the numbers look great. Amazon sales are up 42% to $5.7 Billion. The 2007 Free Cash Flow more than doubles and is surpassing $1 Billion for the first time.

With the earning statement Amazon says that the Amazon Kindle team is scrambling to increase manufacturing, as demand remains higher than supply. Kindles are being delivered to customers on a first come, first served basis.
What Amazon did not announce is the number of Kindle ebook readers they have sold so far. It would be really interesting to know how many Kindle devices they actually manufactured before the put them on the market. It could also be that Amazon just tested the market with a low number. Has anybody seen a number yet? (email me).

Amazon also announced some good news about their Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) and Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) web services infrastructure. The bandwidth utilized by these services in fourth quarter 2007 was even greater than bandwidth utilized in the same period by all of Amazon.com's global websites combined - pretty impressive.
