Nexus says that seven years ago it introduced the now industry standard heat spreader used commonly on PC RAM today. Nexus says it is now trying to set a new standard with the launch of its new memory coolers with integrated heat pipes called the HXR-5500.
The HXR-5500 has an integrated heatpipe with a 5mm diameter. The pipe transfers heat to the attached aluminum heatsink for dissipation. Nexus claims a temperature drop of 13 to 14 degrees C compared to stock heat spreaders.
I’m not sure Nexus is going to set a new standard with these coolers. Anyone familiar with enthusiast memory products will recognize the Nexus design as being very similar to a design that OCZ has been using for a long time now in its Reaper line of memory.
