Onkyo has reportedly halted sales of their HD DVD players.
Reports say that Toshiba will announce the end of HD DVD today in Japan, I have also read reports that say Wednesday. There are not that many companies that actually made HD DVD players beside Toshiba. Onkyo introduced their first HD DVD player at the end of last year.
The Onkyo HD805 was selling in the U.S. and Europe.
About two weeks ago Onkyo released a statement about their HD DVD support in Europe saying that "The DV-HD805 was always planned as a limited run product from the outset and most of the shipped products have been sold out by early December in a matter of days because we underestimated the potential of HD-DVD players in the European market. The Hollywood studios HD DVD withdrawal at CES could not and did not have any influence on this particular product's life cycle and production run".
So it looks like Onkyo was already prepared to stop their HD DVD engagement earlier.
