Kingston announced new fully buffered RAM for use in new high-end server platforms. The new RAM is a family of 800 MHz DDR2 fully-buffered dual-inline memory modules (FB-DIMM) designed for servers running Intel Seaburg S5400 chipset.
The RAM ships in capacities from 512MB to 4GB. "Today's dual XEON systems using the new 1600MHz front-side bus quad-core processors demand a robust memory solution to match processor bandwidth with memory bandwidth," said Louis Kaneshiro, senior technology manager, Kingston. "Our 800MHz FB-DIMMs deliver the blazing performance and reliability required by high performance servers and workstations."
The new RAM starts at $40 for a 512MB stick and goes up to $783 for an 8GB kit. The RAM promises up to 25.6 GB/s of bandwidth with four memory channels active.
