Garmin announced today that it would be the provider for navigation services on Samsung Mobile phones. Garmin will provide its turn-by-turn, voice prompted navigation directly on Samsung phones. The navigation service is based on Garmin Mobile XT software.
Handsets using the Garmin technology are expected to be available in Europe and other countries in the coming months. The only handsets Samsung specifically says will feature the Garmin Mobile XT software is the Samsung i780.
"Garmin is pleased to offer Samsung users a rich navigation experience with the same intuitive user interface found on other Garmin personal navigation devices," said Roger Jollis, Garmin's director of OEM & mobile marketing. "Garmin's on-board and off-board phone navigation solutions are now available on over 500 different handsets, including Samsung mobile phones."
