What's Up with Panasonic and AbleComm?

More Mobile Phones News
Yesterday I posted a story about Panasonic and AbleComm putting a tiny plasma display into a cell phone for AT&T’s Mobile TV service. Today I can across a press release from AbleComm stating that the entire story was false.
When the story hit the Internet yesterday it was a bit odd that the link in the release went to an online store that sells phone systems and the like. The release seemed legitimate though and it wouldn’t be the first time that a PR writer put the wrong link in a release that went out.
The full verbiage of the press release refuting the plasma display reads: “We are advised by AbleComm, Inc. that journalists and other readers should disregard the news release, Panasonic To Put Plasma Video Displays in Cell Phones, issued earlier today over PR Newswire, as the entire news release is completely false.”
The story was completely false huh, interesting that the false release contained quotes from Panasonic and all. Either the whole thing was simply a made up scam to get people to post links to the AbleComm online store or something else is going on. The something else could very well be that someone jumped the gun. AbleComm issued a release stating that its product was being used before Panasonic was ready to let the cat out of the bag. Neither scenario would surprise me. However, knowing how things go down when someone leaks info that is under embargo, I wouldn’t be surprised if in an effort to save a leaked deal AbleComm opted to call it all a lie.
