More Portable Devices News
IBM scientists have developed a new storage technology currently dubbed "racetrack" that promises huge capacity at lower cost.
The racetrack memory technology would lead to the development of 3D micro-electronics away from the current 2D concepts.
For me storage is actually not the biggest problem of portable devices. Much bigger issues are usability, processing speed, battery life and size.
The new memory technology is anyway still early stages. The scientists guess to have this new storage technology on the market within 10 years.
The new racetrack memory technology was published in the current Science magazine issue. Via Times. Thanks Scott.
