According to Research and Markets Nintendo recorded record revenue in fiscal 2007 thanks to the success of the Wii and Nintendo DS Lite. Nintendo recorded revenue growth of 89.8% over fiscal 2006. Nintendo software also helped add to this figure as well.
Research and Markets also says that Nintendo’s pricing strategy has led to huge demand for its Wii and DS systems thanks to their significantly cheaper prices. This demand led to significant shortages of the Wii especially which have yet to be remedied.
If Nintendo grew profits by 89.8% with the massive Wii shortages in fiscal 2007, it’s hard to imagine what it could have done had it been able to meet the demand for its Wii console. Nintendo has said that it expects the Wii shortages to end in 2008.
