More Notebooks and PCs News
Asus announced the new Atom based Asus Eee PC 901, Eee PC 1000 and Eee PC 1000H at the Computex 2008 last week. The pricing of the next generation Asus Eee PCs for the United States has surfaced through Laptop Mag.
The Asus Eee PC 901 Linux and Windows XP versions will sell for $599 each.
In my opinion the price is too high. An important aspect of the success of the Asus Eee PC had been price. Sure we want better and faster versions, but the price needs to keep a distance from normal Windows Notebook prices.
For the same price you get a Toshiba Satellite 15.4 inch notebook with 1.73Ghz Intel Dual Core T2370, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD and DVD drive.
A price of $499 would be much less of a problem in my mind. We will see what happens. I am just not convinced that the small form factor, Atom CPU and SSD storage is going to be enough to drive sales for the new Asus Eee 901.
The pricing for the new Asus Eee 1000 and Eee 1000H are still not settled, but are most likely $699 and $649 respectively.
