Now that the Apple activation servers are working you can also upgrade your iPod touch with the new iPhone 2.0 system software for $9.95.
I still do not know why Apple charges for this update on the iPod touch and not on the iPhone. The 2.0 update will enable iPod touch owners to purchase Apps from the App store.
This update is the enabler for Apple to make much more money with the iPhone touch owners.
Because Apple charges for the update far less iPod touch owners are likely to upgrade.
More details on the Apple site.
