MemoTrek Technologies has launched a new eco-friendly USB drive made of bamboo. The drive is called the Woody Bamboo and is made exclusively out of hardened and durable bamboo wood.
The flash memory itself is encased in solid, carved bamboo wood. The drive can also be packaged in an exclusive bamboo gift box that slides open to reveal the drive. The drive also ships with the hemp-like band allowing it to be worn around the neck.
The drive is available to 1 GB, 2 GB, and 4 GB versions and is only sold in quantities of 100 units. The drive also ships in a recycled cardboard box. The device is high-speed USB 2.0 certified and only needs drivers used in Windows 98 or 95. The drive can also be customized for the corporate logo. Pricing is unknown at this time.
