Sony has added a new camera to its point-and-shoot Cyber-shot line called the DSC-T500. The camera is a 10-megapixel unit that can record video in 720p resolution at 30 fps. Movies recorded with the camera are in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264. Video clips up to 10 minutes in length can be recorded.
The T500 has a 3.5-inch touch panel LCD and uses a Carl Zeiss 5x optical zoom lens. Optical SteadyShot is offered to keep images clear and clean. ISO Sensitivity up to ISO3200 is available. The camera will ship in late September for $400.
“Our research revealed that people like to shoot video with their point-and-shoot cameras, but were very dissatisfied with the video quality and the resulting large files,” said Phil Lubell, director of digital camera marketing at Sony Electronics. “Our new T500 fulfills this customer need for a digital camera that delivers high-quality movies in a small form factor.”
