Microsoft announces a line of input devices with fingerprint readers (biometrical sensor) for access control.
Microsoft introduces three fingerprint devices. One standalone fingerprint sensor, a keyboard with a fingerprint sensor built-in and a intellimouse with fingerprint sensor bundle.
The fingerprint keyboard is a interesting concept, because there is no need to place another gadget on the desk. The Microsoft Optical Desktop with Fingerprint reader keyboard will be available in October. The standalone reader in November and the Mouse Reader bundle in January.

Biometrical sensor computer accessories are available from other manufactureres since a while including Sony. Microsoft is a late entry here. On the other hand I use Microsoft Mice and Keyboards since years now. They work for me. I tested a biometrical USB flash drive and it worked really well. One issue with that device was that it did not had direct integration into the Windows authentication system. The Microsoft fingerprint readers of course do that.
