British scientists develop an autonomous robot that can power itself by eating flies.
University of the West of England in Bristol are working on the EcoRobot II that digests flies in eight microbial fuel cells (MFCs) to generate electrical power.
So how does the robot catch the flies? He carries human poop with him to attract the flies - at least humans will still have some use in a robot future.
More details in story on the NewScientist and in Ecorobot II white paper (pdf).
