The smartphone battle will still get a lot more interesting for us consumers on the pricing side of things. Analyst Charlie Wolf of Needham Research says that Apple can afford to drop the iPhone 3G price to $99 if necessary. Via Electronista.
Given the high prices RIM keeps on their new Blackberry Bold ($299.99 with 2 year contract) and most likely also on the new BlackBerry Storm a price drop like that would hurt pretty bad.
The only other smartphone that would not hesitate to cut prices is the new T-Mobile G1 as it seems.
Rumors say that Wal-mart is going to sell the G1 starting at only $148.88 with 2 year contract starting November 24th. Not all Walmart stores would carry the G1 though. Via EngadgetMobile.
