The Nintendo Wii was our first gift tip in our Top 100 Gift Guide Countdown we launched back in August. We featured it that early because it is still hard to find at the $249 price it is supposed to sell for.
This week President of Nintendo of America, Fils-Aime told the LA Times that Nintendo is producing 2.4 million Wii consoles per month. This is an increase of 33% compared to last year. The 2.4 million Wii consoles are allocated though world-wide and not just for the United States.
The Wii Fit also still proves itself as a hard find. Nintendo apparently already sold 3 million Wii Fit boards.
Reggies Fils-Aime has these tips to score a Wii these Holidays: "Look at retailer circulars. Go to their websites. We're flowing products into stores on a very regular basis. Once you see it on the shelf, you ought to buy it. While we're bringing 50% higher level of supply into the market this holiday, we don't know if the demand will be even higher than that." Read the full interview on LA Times.
The Xbox 360 will benefit extremely this Holiday season from Wii shortages. The new NXE, Netflix streaming and the new low pricing make the Xbox 360 a very attractive alternative to the Wii.
