Panasonic announced the world's smallest interchangeable lens camera in September called the Lumix DMC-G1. The G1 uses the new Micro Four Thirds system and weighs 0.85 pounds making it also the lightest interchangeable lens camera available. It is actually not a conventional DSLR camera, as it has no internal mirror box, but many list it as DSLR including Amazon.

Panasonic also says that the G1 is also the first DSLR camera to be offered in multiple colors. The G1 will be available in black, blue, and red. The rear LCD is a 3-inch model that can swivel 180 degrees horizontally and 270 degrees vertically. Other features include MEGA optical image stabilization, intelligent ISO, face detection, scene selector and more. The G1 offers 12.1-megapixels.
DCResource has published a review of the Lumix DMC-G1. Their verdict is that the DMC-G1 is a great camera, but pricey. The G1 is a great point-and-shoot camera that has interchangeable lenses.

For Whom:
You can surprise someone with a hot professional camera that is more compact than conventional SLR cameras. If you get a red or blue G1 the camera gift even gets more special.
