The news that Dell would re-enter the music player market appeared last summer. Now the WSJ reports that Dell will not be able to launch a music player for this Holiday shopping season.
The new Dell music players were planned to be based on the Zing platform. Apparently now Dell is only working to release the software part of the Zing platform.
The Zing software helps users organize their music files.
The music player market isn't even key for Apple these days. Apple has moved on to make a killing in the smartphone market. Dell is better off to focus on their main business and deliver competitive, notebooks, netbooks, and PCs. Nobody is waiting for a Dell music player.
Dell is actually running an interesting consumer electronics store that has surprisingly good deals.
