The program is designed to reduce the amount of e-waste that makes it to landfills in the US. Green Glove offers buyers of new Sony TVs who chose the Bravia premier in-home delivery service when a TV larger than 32-inches is purchased to have their old sets hauled away for recycling.
The service includes delivering, unpacking, and setting up the new Bravia HDTV as well. In addition to picking up an old TV for disposal, the packaging will be removed and recycled that the new TV shipped in. The old TVs removed from customers homes will be recycled by Waste Management America.
"Sony is in the forefront of industry recycling efforts by providing consumers another way to conveniently and responsibly dispose of their old electronics," said Mike Fasulo, Sony Electronics' chief marketing officer and head of the company's corporate social responsibility efforts. "By giving consumers the opportunity to do the right thing, without even leaving their homes, we are able to make a lasting impact on the state of our environment by responsibly recycling these materials."
