Panasonic has announced updates to its Toughbook line of rugged computers including the Toughbook 30 and the Toughbook 19. Both of these systems get new 1,000 nit LCDs for more brightness, circular polarization technology and anti-reflective screen treatments for more viewability in different environments.

Both of the machines also get improved security and remote management features via Intel Centrino 2 with vPro technology. Memory capacity is expanded and the battery life is 40% greater on both models. The Toughbook 30 uses an Intel core 2 Duo SL9300 at 1.6GHz with a 6MB cache and a 1066MHz FSB. Available memory ranges from 2GB to 4GB and the screen is 13.3-inches. Storage is to a 160GB SATA HDD or a 32GB SSD.

The Toughbook 19 is a convertible tablet computer and uses a Core 2 Duo SU9300 CPU at 1.2GHz. Memory options are 2GB to 4GB and the screen is a 10.4-inch LED backlit unit. Storage options include a 160GB HDD or a 32GB SSD and the touchscreen can optionally have both a digitizer and a touchscreen. Battery life is up to ten hours. The Toughbook 30 starts at $3649 with the Toughbook 19 starting at $3749.
