Microsoft announced this week that over one million Xbox Live users have downloaded and activated the Netflix streaming application on their Xbox 360 consoles. The Netflix streaming service launched on the Xbox 360 in November 2008, only about three months ago.
To use the streaming service Xbox owners have to be Xbox Live Gold members and have subscriptions to Netflix. If 360 owners have both of these memberships streaming movies and TV shows from Netflix via the Xbox is free.
In total Microsoft says that 1.5 billion minutes of TV shows and movies have been streamed already by Xbox users. The streaming library from Netflix totals 12,000 movies and TV shows right now. Growing amounts of that number of shows are in HD resolution.
