If you have jailbroken your iPhone you do not need to get your Apps from the Apple iTunes App Store.
The Wall Street Journal reports now that Jay Freeman, who created Cycorder is planning to open a renegade App store for the iPhone and iPod touch that offers Apps Apple did not approve.
Most apps that are available for the jailbroken iPhone are free. The Cydia Store wants to offer developers a way to offer paid apps for jailbroken Apple devices.
Popular apps for jailbroken apps include PDANet and also Cycorder which is a camcorder software that Apple actually should have made part of the iPhone standard apps.
If the Cydia store is going to really bother Apple depends on how many jailbreakers actually would pay for software. The success or failure of the Cydia store will also show how many iPhone users have actually jailbroken their iPhone.
More details on the WSJ.
