17-inch Unibody MacBook Pro May have Graphics Issue

Apple MacBooks were part of the NVIDIA graphics powered systems that had faulty GPUs last year and some Apple owners are part of the class action suit that resulted over the faulty GPUs in many computers. It looks like another GPU issue is brewing with the new Unibody 17-inch MacBook Pro running the 9600M GPU.
Some users are reporting that their new MacBooks have green lines that run down the LCD when the more powerful GPU kicks in. Evidently, when the lower power 9400M card is in use things look fine on the MacBook screen.
Some users report that the lines get worse as the machine heats up and that even after a reboot the lines remain for a while. Since the 9400M is not affected, the issue has to be with the 9600M. The exact problem is unknown at this point and whether it's actually a GPU issue or a problem with drivers or Apple firmware is unknown.
