One of the things that I always associated with the future when I was young was video calling. Being able to call someone and see their face as you talk to them was the stuff of science fiction in my youth. Today with services like Skype and almost every webcam available, you can have video calls at will.

A company called Unidata has announced what it claims to be the world's first Wi-Fi Video Conference phone. Scant details were released about the handset, but what we do know is that the phone will use a 2.8-inch touch screen with a resolution of 240 x 320.

The handset supports 802.11a 5GHz and 802.11b/g 2.4GHz networks. Many newer routers support networks using both those frequencies. Other features include 30 fps video recording and playback, conference call capability, mp3/mp4 playback and an XHTML browser. The device can support up to three hours of video calling and six hours of voice calling. Pricing and availability are unknown.
