AppleInsider, which is in most cases very pro Apple has published an interesting report about the latest Palm Pre demos that try to hit the Apple iPhone 3.0 where it hurts most.
Palm shows with the Pandora Internet radio app a cool use for background apps. The radio is running while you browse the web or check your emails. You can even rate the songs via the notification bar without switching apps.
AppleInsider also points out that Apple is not allowing apps to interpret code. This limitation blocks emulators from the iPhone. Palm just announced the very cool Palm OS emulator for the Palm Pre.

Looking just at the features like we did a couple of weeks back puts the iPhone 3.0 and the Palm Pre on the same level with some pro and cons discussion.
If Palm manages to bring cool applications that make use of full background processing, the synergy framework and code emulators that the iPhone cannot run, Apple will have to rethink some of their iPhone limitations.
