In this video interview (watch it below) with Axel Meyer, the designer of the Nokia N97 has leaked the prototypes of several unnamed smartphones. Meyer also gave off several hints about the future of Nokia's phone line.
'We're going to redefine what 'personal computer' means. The N97 was the beginning of a new era.' said Meyer.
Meyer expressed that he believes that cell phones should act as personal computers, and that he wants the phones to be able to transform into mini-notebooks with the touch of a button. The leaked phones had the same fantastic design characteristics of the N97. When flipped open, their monitors tilt to a very comfortable degree, which makes them a breeze to chat or type with compared to its less ergonomically correct competitors.
GSMArena speculates that black, rounded phone is the prototype of the much-anticipated N97 successor, the Ivalvo.
'Ivalo is supposed to pack a 3.5" wide touchscreen, 32GB ROM, AGPS, FM transmitter and receiver, 5MP camera, WiFi, TV-out and Bluetooth.'
All the new phones look to have interfaces very similar to the G1, which could point to a trend that's long overdue in developing. From what we can see the new Nokia's will navigate very smoothly, with lots of side-sliding windows to switch between the phone's basic functions.
No further information about Nokia's new line has been released yet, but we should see something develop before the summer season ends.
