Despite some misgivings from Apple it's come out that the SlingPlayer app will be released to the iTunes App Store by tonight. MacRumors.com recieved the tip, which also stated that the app's price is going to be set at $29.99. They claim to have multiple confirmations of this rumor, and it smells pretty real to me. I'd say you can bet on seeing SlingPlayer tonight or tomorrow.
SlingPlayer Mobile will come with support for all current Slingboxes, including PRO-HD and SOLO. It also supports the legacy slingboxes, which includes Classic, AV, and TUNER. The only thing unfortunate about this announcement is that it also seems likely that the app will only be able to stream over Wi-Fi connections.
This is good news for iPhone owners, and bad news for AT&T. This means even more bandwidth usage from iPhone users, and even more costs for the communications giant.
