Remember that T-Mobile roadmap/calendar that got 'leaked' a few weeks ago? The one that gave us our first glimpse of the G1.2 and the first release date and pricing info for the G2? Well another version of it has been 'leaked', and this one lists the Motorola "Morrison" as the next new Android-running Smartphone.
The "Morrison" looks poised to come out just in time for the Christmas season. From what we can tell by the thumbnail image, it's a large-screen smartphone with an unfolding QWERTY keyboard. It looks more than a little similar to the G1.2, but with a different button configuration around the screen.
Here's what we know; the Morrison will be a 3G smartphone that runs on Android, and it's coming out after Fall, 2009. Motorola's Android entry will be hitting the market after both HTC's Magic and G1.2 become available. That's bad timing for Moto, and I'm not sure exactly why T-Mobile would shoot one of their phones in the foot by releasing it right after two other big launches.
One possibility is that Moto has something extra-cunning up their sleeve with the Morrison. They could be going for a high-quality, low-cost Android-running smartphone in order to try and capture the budget Android market. Or it's possible the Morrison has some really nifty multi-media features that will give it a chance at competing with the Magic and G1.2. If not, Motorola is going to be in for one sad Christmas this year.
